Pedestrian Bridge
Custom Metal Frame Bridges with Integrated Handrail Mounting System
Instead of traditional cast-in-place methods, these custom pedestrian bridges had been engineered and fully manufactured as a metal-based solution to accelerate on-site construction. Each bridge featured a galvanized, powder-coated steel frame, covered with aluminum panels to allow a clean pour of concrete and tile finishing. This modular approach enabled the bridges to be delivered in parts and assembled with bolted joints, making installation efficient while minimizing site disruption.
What distinguishes these bridges is the red-coated structural side panels, which include dedicated handrail mounting sockets. These allow for seamless maintenance, future upgrades, or potential redesigns without altering the bridge’s main structure — an architectural safety solution built into the core. Multiple bridge types were developed, including straight and curved spans, demonstrating the flexibility of custom metal structures in landscape integration. Two of the five bridges follow curved paths, adding variety and visual interest to the parkway circulation system.
This project transformed a site-specific circulation challenge into a series of long-lasting and easily maintainable architectural bridges.
