Circular Pavilion Structure with Double-curved Metal Arches and Architectural Framing
This open-air pavilion had solved the challenge of building in a fully circular form — a geometry that requires high structural precision and coordination. Instead of relying on labor-intensive concrete formwork, IDEA designed and manufactured a complete architectural metalwork system using a custom frame with dual-axis bent arches. These arches were curved not only in elevation but also followed a continuous circular plan, making their fabrication and installation especially complex. Thanks to this integrated frame system, the structure had been fully assembled on site within a single week — without need for concrete shells or in-situ shaping.
The pavilion featured a bolted metal framework made entirely from galvanized and powder-coated steel, ensuring weather resistance and long-term durability. All arcs and supports were connected using precise bolted joints, creating a robust yet lightweight construction. The structure included an inner ceiling surface that was later covered with composite panels, allowing for fast finishing and clean aesthetics. An outer steel ring, slightly recessed from the main form, added architectural rhythm and depth. The project exemplifies custom pavilion systems, architectural steelwork, and metal structures for public spaces.
This structure transformed a labor-heavy concrete form into a precise, prefabricated architectural centerpiece.
